6. IMAGE TRANSFER AND PAPER
SEPARATION
6.1 OVERVIEW
Instead of using a transfer wire and a transfer belt, this machine uses a
transfer roller [A], which touches the drum surface.
The high voltage supply board [B] supplies a positive current (approximately
+15 µA) to the transfer roller. The roller has a high electrical resistance, so it
can hold a high positive electrical potential to attract toner from the drum onto
the paper.
There is a discharge brush [C] after the transfer roller. The curvature of the
drum and the discharge brush helps the paper to drop away from the drum.
The transport fan [D] under the transport guide plate helps to transport the
paper from the transfer area to the fusing unit.
